‘Oppa, do you have a car?’ comes from a video titled ‘Oppa oppa, do you have a car?’ on the YouTube channel Wanggnada. Posted in February 2021, it is a dance set to a song looping lines like ‘Oppa, are you rich? Oppa, do you have a car? Oppa, where do you live? Oppa, I’m expensive.’
The short repeating lyric and the bold choreography made it extremely catchy, and the video passed 13 million views.

Two things emerged only later. One was that the voice on the track belongs to the comedian Ahn So-mi; the other was the identity of Wanggnada herself, who appeared on the YouTube programme Geunhwang Olympic in December 2022 to talk about her life and her job — an appearance that was itself news to viewers who knew the meme but not the person.
It spread mainly on YouTube and TikTok, and parodies by broadcasters raised its profile further. The lines are short and the rhythm unmistakable, which suited both lip-syncing and dance copying.
