Hip President

The nickname "Hip President" (Hip-tongryeong) was given to singer Jang Moon-bok after his appearance on Superstar K2 in 2010. During the audition, he performed Outsider's "Speed Racer" as a rap and stated in a pre-interview that "Korean hip-hop seems to be somewhat lacking," criticizing the state of Korean hip-hop. He expressed his ambition to contribute to the development of Korean hip-hop, gaining significant attention.

Jang Moon-bok's intense interview and unique rap style shocked many and quickly became a hot topic on internet communities. Particularly, his statement that "hip-hop has lost its way" along with his bold ambition to improve Korean hip-hop earned him the nickname "Hip President." This title was inspired by a comparison to "Rock President" Go Joon-gyu from Superstar K1. Subsequently, "Hip President" Jang Moon-bok became a central figure in numerous online parodies and trends.
