Origin

"Are you a T?" (neo T-ya?) comes from Fox Club, a mockumentary series on the Korean YouTube sketch comedy channel Memegorithm. In the series, comedians Kim Ji-yu, Heo Mi-jin and Han Ji-won travel around the country trying to pick up men, and it started in February 2023 with its first episode, "[Fox Club] EP.1 How women get ready to pick up guys".

The moment is in that first episode. Han Ji-won flashes an eye-smile at the camera PD and says, "Guys absolutely die for this," and Heo Mi-jin answers literally: "Well, nobody's actually died." Heo's MBTI type is ESTJ. Annoyed at the mood-killing reply, Han snaps back, "Unnie, are you a T?" Viewers seized on the line as a meme, and the team kept repeating it in later videos until it became a catchphrase. In May 2023, Newsis ran a piece on the meme introducing the original scene and cast.

The craze rode on Korea's MBTI boom. In MBTI, T (Thinking) describes people who put logic and facts ahead of feelings when making judgments, while F (Feeling) describes those who prioritize empathy and relationships. Saying "Are you a T?" to someone who answers a bid for comfort with solutions or facts is a light way of borrowing personality-type language to say "show a little sympathy."

The meme even became a song title. On MBN's Hyunyeok Gawang 2, broadcast February 18, 2025, singer Choi Su-ho performed the new song "Neo T-ya" (composed by Wi Jong-su) in the first round of the finals, placing fourth with 830 points; the track was released on music platforms at noon the next day, February 19. Fox Club itself ran for about three years before ending with episode 218 in July 2026, and coverage of its finale still named "Are you a T?" as its signature catchphrase.
