‘Na Moon-hee’s First Love’ is a mondegreen meme — a lyric misheard as something else entirely. The song is ‘Banana Shake’ by Humming Urban Stereo (HUS), and the actual lyric is ‘neomu hwieojyeosseo’ (‘it’s bent too far’). Played at increased speed, that line sounds like the name of the veteran Korean actress Na Moon-hee followed by ‘first love’.
The actress has nothing to do with it. The song is not about her and her name does not appear in the lyric. The meme is purely a phonetic coincidence taken at face value.
Spread
The decisive moment was two videos colliding. A TikTok user posted a sped-up version of ‘Banana Shake’, and it was combined with footage of Haerin of NewJeans dancing to Wonder Girls’ ‘Tell Me’, launching the challenge. The sped-up track happened to fit the choreography of an entirely different song, and the misheard lyric supplied the joke on top of that.
The peak came when the subject joined in. Na Moon-hee herself used the meme in her own TikTok content, which made it a much bigger story — the person whose name had been misheard into existence climbing aboard the result.
