The meme began with a photo slideshow posted to TikTok by @lilsleepyjp on July 27, 2024. The image shows two boys standing on a sidewalk at night. July 29, 2024 — The format pivoted to a redraw trend. X user @Kx1T0_ posted the earliest known redraw, recreating the composition with Jujutsu Kaisen characters; it drew over 7,300 likes in two days. Later the same day, @ZaLantwrn posted a Zenless Zone Zero version that gained more than 60,000 likes in two days.
July 30, 2024 — The redraw trend reached Reddit, with another Jujutsu Kaisen adaptation posted to /r/Jujutsufolk.
