Origin

"How do I get him off" is a meme in which Mr. Washee Washee — the laundromat owner from the animated series Family Guy — is pasted into some screen he has no business being in, with the caption asking how to remove him. It is not a quote meme but an exploitable: the joke lives in the image insertion, not in anything the character says.

The first post came on October 4th, 2024, from X (formerly Twitter) user @boolymen: an image of Mr. Washee Washee sitting inside a project in the music production software FL Studio, captioned "How do I get him off?" The same day, hip-hop producer Ezra (@wdgaaf) shared the image as an Instagram Story, and later confirmed that October 4th posting in an interview with Know Your Meme. Ezra also added a reply on X reading "BRO I STILL CANT GET HIM OFF."

What matters is that the caption is framed as a genuine complaint — something that will not delete from a working file. Every later variation inherits that posture of an unfixable problem. The original X post passed 84,000 likes within three months.

The real surge came in January 2025 on TikTok and Instagram, as users began inserting Mr. Washee Washee into two-dimensional spaces he could not possibly enter. The original FL Studio context dropped away and only the format remained.
