Origin

"Iseoseun" is a mangled spelling of isseosseum ("there was"), with its final consonants and vowels slurred, and it names a meme style of talking in which you open with a big buildup and then deflate it: "There just wuz a ___. It didn't rly do anything." The clumsy ending on "-eun" heightens the anticlimax.

According to Gogumafarm's July 2025 meme roundup, it began with a request for a scary ghost story. When someone asked for a scary story, the reply started, "Once upon a time there wuz a very scary ghost," and when pressed, answered, "It just wuz there. It didn't rly do anything." The exchange drew laughs on X (formerly Twitter) and spread. The core is a buildup that promises everything and an ending where nothing happens.
