Origin

The song is "See Tình" by the Vietnamese singer Hoàng Thùy Linh, released on February 20th, 2022 as the second single from her fourth studio album, Link.

"Ting ting tang tang" is not the title but a transcription of a sound repeated in the chorus. To listeners who do not know Vietnamese, that passage registers as onomatopoeia, so different countries ended up calling the song by whatever they heard — the Philippines uses a "ting ting tang tang" style nickname for the same reason, and the Korean name for the dance works the same way.

What created the trend was not the original but a remix. Cukak's version foregrounded that chorus and set off the #SeeTinh challenge, with users posting dance and lip-sync videos.

TikTok was the venue. The bright disco rhythm came with simple movements that were easy to copy, and cutting out the chorus alone was enough to make a video.

In Korea, participation by celebrities and influencers pushed its visibility sharply higher. Many people along the way remembered only the sound, with no idea of the song's origin or original title — a common pattern when a track spreads through short-form video. A fragment of sound travels first, and the information about the song catches up later, if at all.

The trend is also cited as a case of Vietnamese pop being consumed simultaneously across several countries, Korea among them. Because the original, the remix and the challenge videos spread by separate routes, different countries settled on different names and different choreography.
