"Pro bulchamreo" — roughly "professional no-show" — is a nickname attached to the comedian Jo Se-ho. It starts with a 2015 moment on the MBC variety show Sebakwi, where Kim Heung-gook asked him, "Why didn't you come to Ahn Jae-wook's wedding?" Jo answered: "How could I go when I don't even know him?"

The answer is entirely reasonable — there is no reason to attend a stranger's wedding. The laugh came from the question. Demanding to know why someone skipped the wedding of a person they have never met does not hold up as a premise, yet there was Jo, looking wronged and explaining himself anyway. From then on, jokes about him failing to show up anywhere followed him around, and they hardened into the nickname.

The meme lasted because Jo played along. Rather than deny the label, he absorbed it into his on-air persona, making his own absences the material. A meme that crosses over from mockery into character gets a much longer life, and this one took exactly that route.

The arc closed nine years later. At Jo's wedding on October 20, 2024 at the Shilla Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Seoul, Ahn Jae-wook — the man at the center of the original question — showed up. Ahn inverted the 2015 line: "How could I not go when I do know him?" The one who missed it was Kim Heung-gook, who had asked the question in the first place. The story ending with the same cast it began with was enough for several outlets to write it up on its own.

Teasing someone who conspicuously skips gatherings and events.
In the form "how could I go when I don't know them?", answering an unreasonable demand with plain logic.
Inverted as "how could I not go when I do know them?", to stress an obligation you cannot skip.
Self-deprecatingly, declaring in advance that you will not be attending.
